Her work begins with a simple belief.

Children grow when they feel safe, understood, and capable. That belief connects Lamesa's work as a school counselor, the stories she writes, the programs she creates, and the conversations she leads.

A Shreveport native, Lamesa earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in Spanish and a master's degree in counseling from Louisiana Tech University. She has served as an elementary school counselor since 2012.

Her professional experience gives her a close view of how relationships, emotional regulation, bullying, confidence, and the ability to learn affect one another. Her public work turns those lessons into language children and adults can use together.
